In recent months, we handled the necessary formalities and administrative matters, and as of today, Van Merksteijn Steel Group and Südwest Beteiligungen join forces and, Reinforcing Steel Europe B.V is officially established.
The head offices for the Reinforcing Steel Europe B.V. will be located in Almelo, The Netherlands, and the Board of Directors will consist of:
Mr. Markus Weber, Mr. Markus Menges, Mr. Kris Van Ginderdeuren and Mr. Jan Broos.
As we mentioned in our earlier communication, this merger is a significant milestone in our journey to exceed your expectations in terms of service, quality and sustainability. It’s a strategic alliance that allows us to leverage our combined strengths and consolidate our position as one of the leading producers and processors of reinforcing steel in Europe. It enables us to identify best practices from individual sites and implement them throughout the entire group, thus enhancing efficiency and promoting innovation.
Amongst other advantages, the merger allows the Südwest Group to optimize the production capacity of its two steel and wire rod plants, Badische Stahlwerke in Kehl and Moselstahlwerk in Trier. Van Merksteijn Steel Group, on the other hand, benefits from a secured supply of sustainable wire rod, produced in more eco-friendly Electric Arc Furnaces.
This will allow us to achieve our green goals, which is essential for a strong competitive position. The demand for sustainable steel in the industry is steadily increasing. The fact that we have one of the most modern electrical steel plants in Germany, will allow us to play a leading role in the European market for reinforcing steel. We look forward to creating a new standard together.
